Poco X5 Pro with Snapdragon 778G is on the way

Poco X5 Pro, including its powerful Snapdragon 778G chipset, AMOLED display, and advanced camera system. Will it be the ultimate smartphone for mobile enthusiasts?

Exciting news for Poco fans! It appears that a Pro version of the highly anticipated Poco X5 is on the horizon. While we were previously unaware of this development, a European retailer has listed the device as "coming soon" and has even provided a detailed list of its specifications. This leak has got us even more eager to see what the Poco X5 Pro has to offer.

According to the source, the Xiaomi Poco X5 Pro will have a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080x2400 pixels, a 20:9 aspect ratio. Although the retailer did not mention the refresh rate but it is expected that it will be 120Hz like its predecessor Poco X4 Pro.

Poco X5 Pro Concept

The Poco X5 Pro is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 778G chipset, a significant upgrade over the Snapdragon 695 found in the X4 Pro. The retailer has listed two memory configurations for the device, 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB, both of which come with a microSD card slot for expandable storage. The phone is also said to run on Android 12 with MIUI 14 for Poco out of the box.

The Poco X5 Pro is rumored to feature a large 108MP main camera with a 1/1.52-inch image sensor, 0.7µm pixels and an f/1.9 aperture similar to last year's model. However, thanks to the upgraded chipset, 4K video recording is now possible at 30fps. The device is also expected to have an 8MP ultra-wide camera with 118-degree field of view and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera.

The Pro will get a large 5,000mAh battery with 67W wired-only charging, similar to its predecessor. The device is also expected to have Gorilla Glass 5 on the front for protection and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. However, this may be a mistake on the spec sheet as the Poco X4 Pro is only rated for IP53. It is worth to note that this information is not confirmed by Poco and should be taken with a grain of salt. The device will be available in three color options: Blue, Black and Poco Yellow.

In addition to the Poco X5 Pro, the retailer also lists details for the Xiaomi Poco X5. This model is expected to feature a Snapdragon 695 chipset, as seen in Geekbench. It will have a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080x2400 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate, which suggests that the Pro model also has a 120Hz display. The Poco X5 is expected to have an IP54 rating, which is more believable.

Compared to the Pro model, the vanilla Poco X5 has some downgrades. The main camera is 48MP, which is still joined by an 8MP ultra-wide camera with 118-degree field of view and a 2MP macro camera. However, it is not expected to support 4K video recording. The selfie camera is also downgraded to 13MP.

The Poco X5 is also expected to have a 5,000mAh battery, but with a reduced charging speed of 33W. It is listed with the same memory configurations as the Pro model, 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB, both of which come with a microSD card slot for expandable storage.

The Poco X5 Pro's image is said to look identical to the X4 Pro, which could mean that Xiaomi did not change the design, or that the retailer reused an old image. The specifications are said to be very close to the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed. The vanilla Poco X5's image is said to be similar to the Redmi K50i, but the specifications have little in common, and the color options listed do not match the images. The specifications of the vanilla X5 are said to be much closer to the Redmi Note 12, except for the chipset.
